Custom software for businesses that outgrew the spreadsheet
I build the custom software, integrations, and automations that off-the-shelf tools usually cannot handle, based on about fifteen years of engineering work, most of it in banking and financial services out of Charlotte, North Carolina, including time in information security. You deal with me directly on every project, not an account manager.
What I do
Replace manual processes
I build the automation that gets rid of the two-day monthly report and the data that keeps getting typed into two different systems by hand.
Build the software you need
I replace the spreadsheet nobody really trusts with an actual application that has permissions, a history, and a plan for when its owner moves on. Sometimes that is a tool for your team, and sometimes it is something your own customers use directly, like a portal or a booking site.
Connect systems that do not talk
I build the integration that gets two pieces of software talking to each other, so nobody on your team has to keep retyping the same information twice.
Extend software you already own
Often the software you already own handles most of the job already, and just needs the last piece built around it rather than a whole new system.
See what is actually happening
I build the dashboard or report that pulls your real numbers into one place, so you can see what is going on without digging through spreadsheets or asking around.
Work that holds up under scrutiny
I have spent years building audited, security-conscious software for banks and financial companies. That habit of making things hold up under real scrutiny carries over if you answer to inspectors, insurers, or a prime contractor.
Who I am
I am Charles Jones. I have spent fifteen years building software, most of it in banking and financial services out of Charlotte, North Carolina. Before that, I spent seven years at a managed service provider, running IT for small and mid-size businesses. I want to understand how your business actually runs before I start building anything for it.
I ran IT for small businesses before I ever built software for a living, and it still shapes how I approach a project today.
How I work
A fixed price.
You get a number before work starts, based on a scope agreed on up front, rather than an open meter that keeps running the longer things take.
A written statement of work.
What is out of scope gets written as carefully as what is in scope.
You work with me.
No account manager, and no junior engineer quietly doing the work after someone senior sold it.
Support after launch.
Every project includes a warranty period, with ongoing support after that if you want it.
Tell me what you need
Send an email or call, and I will tell you honestly whether it is something I can help with.
